Dress of the period 1900 - 1925.
The doll's name is Lady Chatterley's, she is the main character in a novel by David Lawrence. The novel was written in 1928.
The publication of the novel caused a big scandal associated with numerous frank descriptions of love scenes, and for some time the novel was banned in different countries.
The novel describes a classic love triangle: a beautiful young wife, an invalid husband, and a surly, somewhat spiteful forester looking after the estate. The novel also touches on social issues (here the man, lady and forester come from different classes) and explicit aspects (detailed descriptions of the awakening of attraction to the forester in Constance and their love scenes).
The novel was perceived by most of Lawrence's contemporaries as a challenge to society and in 1928 was banned in the UK, and the finished edition was confiscated and destroyed. The ban was in effect until 1960 and was lifted as a result of a high-profile lawsuit, as a result of which the work was fully rehabilitated and restored to publishing rights.
