Brass is usually used in the gas industry because it does not cause a spark when striking. It also has another purpose - its just plain pretty to look at. The handle of this hammer unscrews several times to give you two "regular" screwdrivers and two "phillips" screwdrivers. Great for turning screws of many types and sizes without having to know sizes. Screwdriver tips are made of fully drop forged steel - hardened and tempered for maximum strength. One caution: the threading is new off the the factory cutting maching and you should twist and untwist the handle drivers a few times to enjoy a smooth screwing action.
